DOES MY CUP RUNNETH OVER? PSALMS 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Oh fill my cup, fill my cup. Let it over flow with love.
I. DOES YOUR CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH JOY? A. John 15: 9 – 12 Jesus says I tell you these things that your joy might be full. 9 ¶ As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Being full of the joy of Christ Jesus. B. Rom. 15: 13 The God of Hope fills us with joy. 13 ¶ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. If we are full of the joy that is in Christ and we are filled by the God of hope we will be running over with joy. II. DOES YOUR CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH PEACE? A. Col. 3: 15 Paul to the brethren at Colosse says. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Are we at peace with God? Does the peace of God rule our hearts and minds? B. John 14: 27 Jesus telling his apostils the Holy Spirit would come as a comforter unto them said: 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Christ gives unto us an eternal peace. Let us let this peace rule our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. III. DOES YOUR CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH TRUTH? A. Mal. 2: 6 Malachi writes of Levi. 6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. We need to at peace with God. B. John 8: 31 – 32 Christ truth sets us free from sin. 31 ¶ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. The truth is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us be overflowing with truth. IV. DOES YOUR CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH LOVE? A. 1 Cor. 13: 4 – 8 Paul to the Corinthians says love never fails. 4 Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil; rejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away.
B. Eph. 3: 17 – 19 Paul’s prayer for the brethren at Ephesus. 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. The love of Christ passes knowledge and we can have that love. C. Rom. 8: 35 – 39 Paul says none of these can separate us from the love of Christ 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Can nothing separate us? D. John 14: 15 That little word IF. We only love Christ if we obey him. 15 ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments. E. John 16: 27 Do we truly believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and hath come out from God? Jesus said unto his disciples. 27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. If our life runneth over with the love God had for his Son and the love the Son of God has for us we will be running over with peace, joy and truth that God giveth to his own. Are you in Christ, baptized for the remission of your sins, one he has added to his church? If your not sure you need to obey Christ now. The desire can pass and you can be lost. Will you come? Are you a Christian, but fallen from the love of God? Will you repent and come back? |
