AM I A WORKER FOR THE LORD?

JOHN 9: 1 - 7

1 ¶ And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

 2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

 6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

Now is the time to be a worker.  We know not when we will no longer be able to work for the Lord.

James 1 22 – 24  James says we can deceive our selves into believing we are working when we are not.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

Eph. 2: 10  We are created to do good works.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

If we are workers for the Lord  we will:

1.       Gal. 6 : 3 - 4  We Need To Be Proven.  We do this through goods works.

3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

As Christians we all have work to do.  Let us not think to highly of our selves, thinking our work is the only work to be done.  Let us work together, but understand we are going to be judged according to our work and not anthers.  Work today.

2.       Phil 2: 12  Self Starters.  As Christians we should not have to be begged, pleaded with or made to feel guilty  to get us started to work.

12 ¶ Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

          13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

          If God is working in us we will be busy doing good for Him.  We will give an account of our own life.  We must work out own salvation and not try to blame someone else for our failure.  Doing that which we can do and not cheating God.

3.       Col. 1: 9 - 11  Walk Worthy.  We show our worth by our fruit.

9 ¶ For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

Walk pleasing unto the Lord.  To do that we must be fruitful and growing in the knowledge of God.  When we do a good work it should be fruitful.  Let us remember the patience and longsuffering of the Lord for us.

We get impatient with our brethren some time because they don’t do it as fast as we think they should.  Let each of us work at our own pace and not discourage those that are slower, but encourage and help one another.  We don’t all read at the same pace, or understand at the same pace, so why think we will all work at the same pace.

4.       1 Thess. 1: 2 - 4  Working In Faith, Love, And Hope.  Paul gave thanks for them.

2 ¶ We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

We must work by faith.  Some times we are discouraged, but let us never loose our faith in Jesus Christ.  We know we can not please God without faith.  Some times our faith keeps us going.  He also says it must be a labor of love.  Some religious people are in it for the money, for some it may be an ego trip, but Paul says it must be out of love for God.  You do not wake up in love with the Lord’s work.  Love is a learned experance..  It come with time and faith.  I know now that 36 years ago I was so infatuated with Vickie that I decided I could not live with out her.  Over 36 years I have grown to love her more than I ever realized possible.    It did not just happen.  We worked at it and still are. With faith and love for God’s work we must have hope.  Our hope also grows in the Lord if we are faithful in serving him.  We may lie to our selves and say I know I have hope in the Lord, but I just can’t bring myself to tell others about him.  You will tell that which you have hope in.  When our faith, when our love and when our hope is right with God it will be a powerful force in us to not only do his will, but tell other about him.  It will be a way of life within us.

5.       James 1: 25  Continuing Faithful In The Lord’s Work.  Continuing faithful.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Some may remain faithful in attendance.  Some may remain faithful in giving.  James says he that remainth faithful in the perfect law of liberty will be a doer of the Lord’s work..  The perfect law of liberty is the word of God.  All of his word.  All of his work.  All of his commands.

Are you truly a worker for the Lord?  Can it be proven by your own works?  Are you one that can find good to do and do it your self?  Are you walking fruitful and increasing in the knowledge of God’s word?  Are you working in faith, love and hope of eternal life?  Are you continuing in your good works?  If this is your life then you prove your self to God.

 Are we a worker for the Lord.  One day we will know for sure, but it will be to late.

Let us do the Lord’s will today that we might be ready when he comes.  There is much work to do.  The fields are white unto harvest.  Will we go and work?
